Congratulations to the 16 children who made a splash during the Summer Reading program. They had fun with water safety and learning about salmon.  They also built and rode on a parage float during Shegang Days, winning first place in their division. 

Check out our We The People books.  The theme of this year's collection is A More Perfect Union, and includes not only children's books, but Ken Burns's The Civil War on DVD.   These materials were generously provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, promoting greater understanding of our coutry's history and heritage.    

Gem Community historical display

The Culdesac library, located in a former bank building, has dedicated the bank vault as a repository and display area for Gem Community historical items.  A big thank you goes out to Mike Hammond and his wife, Lorna, for volunteering their time and skills to build custom shelves to house the historical collection.
